Now you can go on a spring walk together. Children are learning the names of various plants (flowers and trees) and most can explain evergreen and deciduous!

http://champsportsinfo.com/?tyrid=conto-demo-gratis-opzioni-binarie Many thanks for coming in to talk about children’s learning. It was good to meet up again and for us to recognise how much progress your children are making. They enjoyed talking about targets and showing their work and there has already been an increase in self-esteem!

Please don’t wait till the next parent’s evening if anything is on your mind. We are still holding ‘open house’ on Wednesdays and I can be available at either end of the day.

Children have been given a scavenger book hunt for fun this week. You may do this anywhere! Try a friend or relatives house, school library or …. well anywhere really.

You will also have a competition leaflet, instructions and a seed stick. If you are careful and a little bit lucky you will be able to grow your own strawberry plant. It is too cold just now but the planting season will be on us soon.

Please remember to read and practise spelling as well.

Our new art sessions with Piper

Piper is teaching children to look at buildings and then capture what they see with drawing and painting.

As you walk around Northampton have a look at the buildings, particularly the windows and doors.

Children hunted for simple geometric shapes to help them in class today which made drawing much easier.

Holiday home learning

Please check children’s book bags for home learning. Most children have a diary to keep day by day and some have help to learn the days of the week. This is a Year one target for all children so it is very important that children spend time moving the days from short term memory to their longer term memory for recall at any time.

Children have some phonics or spelling which will help day to day. After the holiday we will be having a meeting about the KS1 phonics assessment later this year. Year 1 children need to read and spell the first 300 words.

Everybody needs to read and also hear adults and older siblings reading to them. Most children can read on their own now but they still need practise and support to maintain this level of progress. Adults can hear when the intonation is not quite correct or know when to ask a question to check understanding.

If you are visiting relatives or having a family outing have fun! If you are at home think about the games you may have played as a child (e.g. Eye spy, noughts and crosses…) or visit the library or museum for some fee fun!

Some empty plastic bottles in the bath or a cooking session at home will support Maths and English progress in school as well as being inexpensive and fun!

Please take the opportunity to catch up on sleep ready for next term.
